Treasure Valley AAU Basketball
Association Game Rules
These guidelines apply to all Treasure Valley AAU regular season and league tournament games
otherwise all Standard National Federation of State High School Associations
Rules apply.

5th-7th grade games consist of four 7-minute quarters of regulation
game time. 8th and 9th grade games consist of four 8-minute quarters of
regulation game time.

The ‘Home Team’ is listed first in the game schedule and wears a
white jersey. Home Team's bench is to the scorekeepers left. Home Team must
provide someone to fill out the official scorebook, which is provided by
Treasure Valley AAU.

The ‘Visitor Team’ is listed second in the game schedule; their
bench is on the right of the scorekeeper. Visitor Team must provide someone
to run the clock.

AAU uniforms are mandatory; the color of any t-shirt worn underneath must
match the player’s jersey color for that game.
Jersey’s must be
tucked into shorts.

All games must start at their scheduled time. Any team
who fails to attend their scheduled game time is considered a forfeiture
after a 10 minute grace period.

No full court press is allowed with a 20 point lead. In this case,
the final 2 minutes are also 'running clock' for all 5th - 9th grade games.

2 Timeouts per half with no carryovers. 1 minute
for timeouts. 3 minutes between halves.

Overtime is 3 minutes. Start with a jump ball.
Only 1 time out for each team.

2nd
overtime is sudden death. First to score after jump ball wins. No timeouts.

2 technical fouls by a coach or player result in ejection from the
facility and one game suspension. Failure to leave the facility will result
in the team forfeiting the game.

Any technical, flagrant, or intentional foul is an automatic 2
points and possession of the ball for the opposing team.

If the referee considers a parent or fan verbally abusive the
referee will warn the coach to control that person. If the abuse continues,
a technical foul will be charged to the team, and the parent or fan is
ejected. Failure to leave the facility will result in the team forfeiting
the game.

Only one coach per team will be allowed to stand in front of the
team bench during the game. Coach must also remain on his side of the court
& stay behind the sidelines at all times. All coaches on the bench must have
an AAU card.

Each player on the roster and in uniform must
play in the game, unless he/she is sick or injured. This rule is waived for
season tournament.
Coaches are not required to play everyone
equally, but strive to develop all players throughout season
practices & games.

The gym monitor has the authority to remove any spectator, parent or
fan who is causing disruptions through negative behavior from the facility.
Failure to leave the facility will result in their team forfeiting the
game.

Basketball sizes; All girls play with a women’s size game ball (28.5), boys
will also use this size while in 5th & 6th
grade. When boys move into 7th
grade, they also move to a regulation size ball.
