2010 8th & 9th Grade Boy's & Girl's Basketball Practice Guidelines
The 8th & 9th Grade teams may begin practicing the week after tryouts, depending on school facility availability. You may not begin practice before this time. The AAU Coordinator will provide all teams with approximately 3 hours of practice time each week. Coaches are not permitted to hold additional practices or penalize players for not attending these additional practices. Coaches are responsible for scheduling their team practices with the league coordinator. For privacy reasons we do not post the practice schedule on our website. Please be aware that gym space is difficult to come by in the Boise & Meridian School District, we do our best to accommodate every team with the most convenient practice schedule as possible. Practice schedules cannot be changed once they are set. Occasionally, some teams may also have to share a gym with another team. We understand this is an inconvenience but it is the only way we can give the large number of teams in our league equal practice times. Keep in mind that AAU practices will follow school district calendars; if the school is closed due to holidays and/or school out days, there will be no practice on those days. The AAU Coordinator will notify coaches regarding unexpected gym closures, school programs or conflicts; rescheduling the missed practice at another location is attempted, but not guaranteed.
The YMCA and the Boise/Meridian School District expect all AAU participants and parents to respect the school facilities which includes no horseplay or bouncing basketballs in the hallways, cleaning up after themselves and treating all custodial staff with courtesy and respect. Coaches are expected to uphold the Gym Use Expectations agreement they sign prior to the beginning of the season. We are grateful for the use of our local school facilities and expect all participants to understand the privilege of using school facilities.

* In addition to these dates each individual school has concerts, plays, etc in their gymnasiums at various times. The AAU Coordinator will contact the coaches & update them regarding these dates as soon as they are made available.
